FAQ

  • How old do I have to be to hire a car?

    For cars you must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid driving license For at least 1 year. To hire a mini bus you need to be at least 25 years old and have held a Valid license for 1 year.

  • Does the car come with petrol included in the price?

    No, you must return the car with the same amount of petrol as there was on delivery. Otherwise, there will be an extra charge.

  • What happens if I get any traffic fines?

    All fines resulting from the drivers conduct is payable by the person named on the rental contract.

  • What is covered in the insurance?

    All our cars have full insurance (Collision Damage Waiver) with an excess (driver’s risk) limited to 300€ or 500€ (depends on car category) that covers all repair costs in case of accident. All drivers are covered against fire, theft, and liability to third parties for death, Injury or damage to property. All our cars can be rented with full insurance (Full Damage Waiver) with no excess at all (no driver’s risk) that covers all repair costs in case of accident. It is valid only under the condition that the Greek driving code has not been violated. FDW is optional and you can request it either through the Internet or at the delivery point. The cost per day to benefit FDW is from 8€ to
    12€ (depended from the category).

    The insurance doesn’t cover damages to the interior, glasses and underneath the car. Also if the vehicle it taken off road, if the driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, if the driver is not named as a driver on the contract, if you have broken traffic driving laws or in the case where the car is illegally parked.

  • Am I able to take the vehicle out of Crete?

    Only with the prior written agreement from U-Drive car rental.

  • What should I do if I have an accident?

    In case of an accident you must contact U-Drive car rental IMMEDIATELY and they are responsible for negotiating any paperwork with the other driver.

  • What happens if I return the car late?

    If the delay is more than 1 hour, without prior permission from U-Drive car rental you will be charged for an extra full day.

  • What if my booked car is unavailable for any reason when I arrive?

    In the unavoidable situation of your booked car being unavailable, U-Drive car rental will provide you with a car of the same category or a car of a higher category (At no extra cost). Under no circumstances will you be expected to accept a car of a smaller category.

  • Is there a charge for second driver, GPS, baby seat or booster?

    There is an extra charge: second driver 3.00€ per day, GPS 6.00€ per day, baby seat and booster 3.00€ per day.

  • How do I cancel a booking?

    To cancel a booking you must contact the company immediately. There is no charge for cancelling a booking it is just courtesy and allows the company to manage bookings efficiently.

  • What if I am delayed to collect my booked car?

    If you are delayed for any reason you can contact us to change arrangements or make us aware of a delay.

  • If I hire a car and then decide to return it before the agreed return date will I get a refund for the outstanding dates?

    No. Once the contract has been signed, and you receive the car, you cannot claim a refund for the outstanding dates – except under exceptional circumstances.

    AIRPORT

    – We check flight times and make allowances for customers on delayed flights. In case of a delay we will regularly check the new arrival time to insure our staff is there to meet you.

    CRUISE TERMINAL

    – We check Cruise times and make allowances for customers on delayed ships. In case of a delay we will regularly check the new arrival time to insure our staff is there to meet you. We will hold the car for one hour after the arrival of the ship unless we are contacted by the customer to notify us of a further delay disembarking the ship.
